No personally identifiable information is gathered during the browsing of the ASM Portal except for information given by you via e-mails and registration, which is in a secure portion of the Portal.

We welcome all feedbacks/inquiries.
In case of detailed information which the Portal may not be able to provide, your feedback/enquiry will be sent to the relevant Government agency to better serve you.

The ASM Portal uses only ‘non-persistent cookies’ or ‘per-session cookies’ which serves technical purposes like switching the languages of the Portal. Previously known as Kuiz Sains Nasional (KSN), the National Science Challenge (NSC) competition has evolved tremendously since 1983. From just merely a science quiz, secondary school students in Malaysia now recognize NSC as one of the most highly anticipated science competitions. In 1999, the competition was entrusted to the Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM) and has since begun to ascend as one of the most significant competitions for Secondary School students.
With the objective of inculcating a culture of excellence in science, ASM organizes NSC annually to nurture, promote and enhance science, technology and innovation interest among school students. This can be seen by the increasing numbers of participation from schools each year and its open for Malaysian students aged 13 to 16 years old studying at National, Private, MRSM and International Schools.
There are four (4) levels in NSC which are Preliminary Level, State Level, Semi-Final and Grand Final.
The lit-torch design envisages NSC’s aspiration to become a beacon that inspires students to immerse themselves in the wonderful world of science & technology, culminating in them making STI (Science, Technology, and Innovation) as the basis of their career choice in the future.
This symbolises the never-ending pursuit of knowledge through which NSC hopes to motivate students in exploring the myriad fields within STI to come up with innovative ideas for the benefit of their communities, the nation, and ultimately, the world.
This reflects NSC’s objectives of imparting knowledge, nurturing leadership and building students’ enthusiasm, whilst highlighting the importance of effective collaboration throughout the competition. These budding young scientists will then grow to be the scientific leaders of tomorrow, hence, enhancing and propagating our continued excellence in STI.

NSC 2025 is now open for registration from 14 March 2025 – 14 May 2025!
Malaysian students in Form 1 to 4 (aged 13 to 16 in the year of participation) from national, private, and international schools are invited to take on the challenge. Gather your team and be part of this exciting journey!
